    cleanliness issues

The hotel shows signs of wear, like a garden covered in broken chairs and cigarette stubs. My room had cobwebs, wall stains, and a lack of basic amenities like a kettle. The breakfast options left much to be desired, highlighting inconsistencies with cleanliness and a dated presentation.

Everything was good, the continental breakfast was totally worth it. Location: the hotel was near the Old Town as well as Damascus Gate. East Jerusalem district was worth exploring. I was given reasonably large room with a really nice bed. A bath tub and carpet were available there...

We thoroughly enjoyed the comforts of this affordable hotel. The room was brand-new and welcoming, included a storage and a kitchen area. The continental breakfast was satisfactory and had coffee and tea.

    limited breakfast

The hotel location is excellent for reaching

Major attractions like the walled city and Damascus Gate within a short walk. The friendly staff contributed greatly to my pleasant stay, especially Yahya, who was helpful. The limited breakfast options and occasional cleanliness issues slightly detracted.

The hotel property was recently refurbished with good and perfect location close to the Shivtei Israel tram station on the Eastern Jerusalem side of the line, the big modern west Jerusalem, and the restaurants of nearby hotels. Breakfast with marmelade.

    beautiful, beautiful, beautiful

I had a good stay! The breakfast was really good, with a lovely view of the peaceful garden. I particularly enjoyed lounging on the spacious balcony attached to my room, where I could bask in the sun and soak up the vibe.

Staff are nice and offer you sightseeing tours. Spacious room. walking distance to Damascus Gate of Old City.

Located in East Jerusalem, bit different from modern West Jerusalem. bit far from pedestrian strips of shoppings and restaurants. few furnitures in the room are broken and should be replaced. I think next time, I would rather stay at St. George cathedral's Pilgrim Guest House across the street for lower price.

The hotel had good location, 10 minutes walk to the Damascus gate. The hotel was across the street from the American Colony. The min-market was nearby to get snacks and drinks.

They try to sell you more expensive private tours. There are 3 large hotels nearby, with similar prices, to consider.

    nice balcony
    great location
    limited breakfast

The location rocks, just a short walk to the Old City. The room had a nice balcony, but the breakfast choices were limited and pretty repetitive. It's decent for the price, though the place needs some serious updates.

The wonderful quiet of the room, the friendlness of the staff at the breakfast - very nice and helpful. Desk help was adequate. After a few proddings, staff was responsive to any changes/repairs that we suggested. The bathroom was very clean, though small. Having a TV in the living room and bedroom was nice, and the small balcony allowed us to sit and enjoy the outside. Location is across from The American Colony Hotel, a great place for a drink and occasional dinner or snack. Also, reliable cab stand there.

The living room furniture needs to be upgraded or replaced - it was worn and useless. In particular, the couch was extremely uncomfortable. The breakfasts were monotonous - it was an OK selection of foods, but always the same. There should be more attention to the detals in the lobby - plants and flowers should be fresher, watered. The doors inside our room - # 24 - were bizaare. The lighting in the living and bedrooms was inadequate - for example, dim lights in ceiling were useless. If upgraded and better organized, we would recommend this hotel - not highly, but very good.

The staff was very kind and helpful and the suite was very compfortable.

One of the guys in the reception was not so kind, if I asked him an adress twice, he got mad. The rest of the staff was very kind.

    friendly staff
    great location
    cleanliness issues
    limited breakfast
    smoky environment

The location is ideal for exploring major attractions, with a short walk to the nearby sites. Breakfast included a good butter that complemented the meal nicely. The limited variety and cleanliness issues were disappointing. The staff were accommodating and friendly, particularly Yahya, who provided invaluable assistance in organizing my visit. Unfortunately, the smoking issue from other guests permeating common areas affected comfort, and the promised room amenities were lacking at first, only resolved later.

Addar Hotel is within walking distance to the Old City of Jerusalem along Nablus Road. The Garden tomb is very near and Damascus gate is around 10 minutes away. There is plenty of free parking behind the hotel. The staff is warm and friendly - especially if you are warm and friendly. A few words in Arabic don't hurt either =) The staff gave good restaurant recommendations and driving directions. I don't understand about the people who have complained about the staff. I have stayed here twice and find the staff to be a high point of the establishment. The beds are comfortable and linens clean (although they have a strange sized blanket/comforter that doesn't seem to quite fit - although honestly we didn't need it). Hot water is plentiful and water pressure is quite strong. The 'jacuzzi' feature is a bit old and suspicious looking and I didn't use it. Be aware there is no shower curtain - this will not bother people who have travelled extensively in Europe and the Middle East but may surprise some Americans. Each room has a large living area and one or two balconies. There is a fridge that is stocked with a few snack items - but there is plenty of room for your own stuff. There is also an electric stove top and kettle but you must provide your own tea. We found English language channels on our TV - if you are having trouble just ask the staff. For me Addar is a good 'budget' option in an overpriced town. It's a little frayed around the edges, but if that doesn't bother you then this is a perfect option. If you are used to 4 or 5 stars don't stay here and complain about a hotel that is not trying to cater to you.

The feel of the rooms is a bit old, although they are quite spacious. The hairdryer unit is a bit old and my wife wasn’t keen on it at first … but it served her needs. There is not an iron in the room, however, the staff brought one within a few minutes of our asking. Also, even though a electric kettle is provided, there are no tea bags or Nescafe. I wonder if you asked nicely if you might be able to get some though. One inconvenience on our last stay was that we asked for a baby cot and even though we were assured 2x that it was in the room … it was not. We checked in very late and the housekeeping staff (who were responsible) had gone home. However, the desk clerk called 2 people (including the manager) to try to straighten things out for us. It seemed that the cot was put in the wrong room. The clerk proceeded to check empty rooms for it – but did not turn it up. He was very apologetic as was the manager who straightened things out the next day. In the end we were able to make things work with some cushions and sheets and it really didn’t matter. The breakfast might be a bit light by American standards, but it is typical for a Middle East budget or mid-range hotel. Labaneh, hummus, baba ghanouj, pita, toast, jam, butter, cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, breakfast bolgna, breakfast cereal, Nescafe, and instant juice. A decent hotel a step above the true budget places in Jerusalem – but definitely in the mid-range category. If finer details and a big breakfast matter to you spend 1.5-3x as much and go somewhere else. Otherwise enjoy Addar for what it is.
